    Celebrating Black History Month: We wanted to take time to give some background on how this celebration came to be and give some lessons ideas related to the holiday. Originally, Black History month was only a week long, starting in the 1920s, and was created by a man named Carter G. Woodson. He chose the month of February because both Fredrick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln were born in February. The celebration expanded to the whole month in 1976. This month has been recognized as a time to celebrate notable achievements and moments in African American history. Read more...
